Dream a Little Dream of Dermal Fillers: Here’s What You Need to Know

Queen asked ‘who wants to live forever?’, maybe not that many of us, but if we asked instead, who wants to keep their youthful complexion for as long as they live, everyone’s hand would go up. As well as anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers are one of the most-loved treatments for my patients at KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham. That is because they are a safe and effective treatment for revitalising and remodelling the skin. Whilst Botox is deemed the most popular and renowned anti-ageing treatment, dermal fillers used alongside Botox or independently are gathering the attention they deserve for their incredible results.

Before going ahead with any aesthetic treatment, there are understandably many queries and concerns which as an aesthetic nurse, experienced in the delivery of dermal fillers, I hope to answer for you here.

Why Are Dermal Fillers so Popular?

The wonderful thing about dermal fillers is that they are available to anyone. Of any skin type and any age, men and women are looking to dermal fillers to restore confidence and create beautiful and smooth complexions.

Whether or not we wish to accept it, the natural ageing process is something that each of us will experience – men and women. Of course for many of us, when those signs of ageing become visible by way of lines and wrinkles, a loss of elasticity and firmness, and hollows under the eyes, it can be really damaging to our self-esteem. Dermal fillers are able to provide long-term reversal of these effects whilst looking really natural with consideration of the face-on look in addition to the profile.

For some, dermal fillers offer the opportunity to rebalance the facial structures for the patient’s desired appearance. For example, I regularly deliver lip fillers to a number of patients who have dreamt of the perfect pout, and distribute the dermal filler solution to patients’ chin and jawline areas to achieve a more defined look.

How do Dermal Fillers Work?

Most dermal fillers contain a substance called Hyaluronic acid which the body naturally produces but is lost as we age. Hyaluronic acid is what gives a youthful plumpness and elasticity to our skin. By reintroducing the hyaluronic acid to the treatment areas, it can effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles, create contour and definition, and add volume to the skin.

What Happens During Dermal Filler Treatment at KP Aesthetics?

Before any treatment at KP Aesthetics, we will have a consultation. In the consultation we will discuss your medical history and chat about what you are hoping to achieve and which aesthetic treatments I can offer which will most naturally deliver those results. Of course, it’s important to understand that whilst dermal fillers are very effective, they cannot transform your skin from 80 to 18 years old. I will also answer all of your questions and give you a run-through of the treatment process.

The dermal filler treatment itself will begin with another run-through of the treatment and go over any final concerns to ensure that you feel absolutely at ease. I will apply an anaesthetic topical cream to the treatment area to reduce any discomfort during the delivery of the dermal filler solution. You can expect some minor swelling, redness or bruising on the treatment area; otherwise, there is no downtime so you can immediately continue about your day as you would ordinarily – only feeling more fantastic.

If you are considering dermal fillers, get in touch with KP Aesthetics, or visit our dedicated dermal fillers page for more information.

The ‘B’ Word: Managing Misconceptions about Botox

Oh Botox, that most renowned of anti-wrinkle injections. Over the years it has become the most popular and yet the most publicly discriminated aesthetic treatment. It is given the same treatment as Love Island which welcomed incredible viewing figures of almost 4 million on the first night yet more than half of that number will forever deny watching it or having an interest. I want to take this time to change that – not the secret watching of Love Island – but the way in which Botox is viewed and misunderstood by the masses. Anti-wrinkle injections are one of the best loved treatments by my glorious clients at KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham. With my experience in the delivery of Botox, I share the truth behind its misconceptions, how it works, and why you should take pride in booking your first appointment today.

What is Botox?

Botox, or Botulinum toxin is one of the most commonly used anti-wrinkle injections. Delivered to the facial muscles in small amounts, the Botox solution relaxes them, disabling the formation of lines and wrinkles. In doing so, Botox is really effective treatment for delaying the ageing process and also combatting the existing visible signs of ageing.

Where Did the Botox Bad Press Begin?

The 90s saw some of our favourite celebrities and movie stars take to Botox to have them remain in or restore them to their golden years. Unfortunately, many were abusing the powers of Botox and as a result saw their faces plastered upon the pages of almost every beauty and gossip magazine. As a result, the reams of misconceptions came in; Botox steals expression from its users; faces become totally paralysed. Of course the responsibility over the amount of Botox treatment lies somewhat with the celebs, but it is also the duty of the medical professional to decide when enough is enough. My approach to Botox treatment is to give my clients beautiful and natural-looking skin which will have people in awe of their healthy and youthful complexion.

Botox Inspires Confidence in Women and Men

When has looking good and feeling great ever been assigned to a single gender? For men and women alike, Botox offers the same fantastic effects. With smooth skin and a youthful complexion, the confidence that you feel as a result is channelled to the rest of your body. You can find yourself standing taller, having more energy, and making more of an impact in both your personal and professional life.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections at KP Aesthetics

At KP Aesthetics, before deciding upon any treatment, we will have a friendly and thorough consultation in which we can discuss your goals, your concerns, and put together the best possible treatment plan to get the results that you are hoping for. At the end of your consultation, should you decide that anti-wrinkle injections are right for you, we will book you in for your treatment. When you come to the clinic I will talk you through the procedure, ensuring that you feel absolutely at ease before we begin the Botox treatment. The Botox injections take only 15 minutes and require no down time meaning you can continue to go about your day as normal, only now feeling more wonderful than when you walked in.

To learn more about anti-wrinkle injections at KP Aesthetics you can visit our dedicated page which aims to outline the treatment and answer the frequently asked questions. You can also get in touch. I would love to hear from you and get you booked in for your free consultation.

Let’s Take a Look at Lip Fillers – Sorting Fact from Fiction

Ever since the #KylieJennerChallenge, there has been an exponential rise in the number of people looking to get the perfect pout. At the same time, we have witnessed the rise in judgement and misconceptions surrounding lip and dermal filler treatments. As a qualified aesthetic nurse regularly delivering lip fillers to my patients at KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham, I have been following this surge for some time; wincing as I’m sure you all have at overly swollen lips, and complimenting the work of my peers for some local celebs living in the limelight with newly lush lips. I want to take this time to share more about the lip filler treatment, what not to do, and why you might consider booking in for your free consultation today.

Where Does Lip Filler’s Bad Press Come From?

Other than hundreds of celebs including, the Jenners, Khloe Kardashian, Ellie Goulding, and Michelle Keegan, many more people of all ages are opting for lip fillers in order to find the sultry smile, or naturally plump lips they once could only dreamed of. Of course, as with the trend in a number of aesthetic treatments, we have social media and our favourite magazines to thank for the spotlight on lip fillers. Across these same media platforms we are also fed countless botch-home-kit jobs, and allergic reactions from clinics that do not follow the rules. Unsurprisingly, such stories and images have had us gasping in horror rather than picking up the phone to make an appointment. However, it is important to understand where their mistakes were made, how to avoid them, and know where you can find a professional to do a safe and quality job.

What to Look Out For

I, along with most professionals in the cosmetic and aesthetics industry, would always strongly suggest making an appointment for your lip filler treatment, rather than choosing to do the job from home. Not only does a medical practitioner have the necessary experience, a clinic also has a fully sanitised treatment area which can be difficult to obtain at home.

When choosing a clinic, take a look at their website and look for examples of their

previous work, their testimonials, and proof of their qualifications. At KP Aesthetics, your free initial consultation will always look at your medical history, assess what you want and how we can achieve it in the most natural-looking way. I will also talk you through the procedure, ensuring that any of your questions and concerns are addressed so that you feel at ease in choosing whether or not to have the lip or dermal filler treatment. Any reputable aesthetics clinic should give the same attention and care to their patients.

Who Can Have Lip Fillers?

The answer is anyone. For most people it all comes down to confidence and wanting to feel contented in our own skin. Of course not everyone is born with the full, luscious lips of Angelia Jolie, and those who are will find that during the ageing process, that volume will gradually disappear. Lip fillers offer a non-invasive and incredibly effective answer for people of 18 to 80 – and beyond! With no downtime and very minor side effects, it is no surprise to me that lip fillers are seeing such a growth in popularity.

Lip Fillers at KP Aesthetics

Once we have had the initial consultation as I’ve mentioned above, we can book in for the treatment. The lip filler solution is gently delivered to the lips, containing a substance called Hyaluronic Acid. It is a naturally occurring substance in the skin which contributes not only to the fullness of our lips, but our face too, and is lost during the ageing process. As it is produced naturally by the skin cells, the body happily accepts the hyaluronic acid with negligible chances of adverse reactions. After the treatment you can expect to leave KP Aesthetics with a big smile and beautiful, kissable lips.

5 Top Skin Care Tips for Glowing Summer Skin

Everyone prepares for the sunny seasons in their own way. For some it will begin with gradual tanning moisturisers (no streaks please!) for others it may be a new hair cut or highlights to give the sun-bleached look; for many clients at KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham, it means having long lasting super smooth skin with laser hair removal. From aesthetic treatments to the everyday decisions we can make for our skin’s health, I want to share the best ways we can prepare our skin for summer, looking particularly at getting that picture-perfect summer glow.

Food Glorious Food

Eat well: live longer. We are all familiar with the process. Dedicated television programmes and articles in our favourite magazines implore us to take up the rape seed oil, put down the refined sugars, and see the benefits of a healthy, well-balanced diet. It is usually target towards our insides – they are very important after all – but what of our skin? Well, there’s plenty of research out there that supports the promotion of beautiful skin with particular foods, in fact, we have looked at it in detail in previous blogs.

The ageing process, amongst other lifestyle factors can cause loss of luminosity to the skin. Fortunately, foods high in vitamin A, B, and C are particularly effective in restoring it. Oily fish, eggs, carrots, spinach, citrus fruits, broccoli, mushrooms, seeds and nuts should all be added to your shopping list.

Exfoliation

It should be a part of your daily skin care routine. There are many expensive exfoliation gadgets promising to be the best but you can get the results you’re looking for with a clean cotton cloth. Using lukewarm water, make gentle circular motions to massage the skin. The process removes dead skin cells which can cause our complexion to appear dull, leaving us with replenished skin and a natural glow.

Stay Hydrated

Begin your day with a glass of water. Dehydration which occurs overnight (particularly on these warmer nights) will cause the skin to look dull, dry, and increase the chances of breakouts. During the day we should always be conscious of keeping hydrated, especially if we are moving from air-conditioned cars, to air-conditioned offices which will further dry out our skin.

SPF Moisturiser

Clients at KP Aesthetics will often ask how they can best support their skin and slow the visible signs of ageing from home. The first answer is, always apply an SPF product to the face – even on dull days. Sun damage is the greatest catalyst to ageing where harmful UV rays enable free radical to wreak havoc on our skin causing lines and wrinkles, a leathery texture, and a loss of luminosity.

Aesthetic Treatments to Target Loss of Luminosity

There are a number of factors which contribute to the loss of luminosity to our skin; lifestyle choices, our environment, the ageing process. The brightness of our skin is something associated with health and youthfulness, and at KP Aesthetics we have a number of treatments which can promote natural luminosity.

ZO® has a range of innovative and highly effective premium prescription strength skin care products which work directly to enhance the natural luminosity of the skin. Profhilo is a treatment often opted for by patients after consultation. Injected into the skin, the serum remodels ageing tissue returning radiance and firmness to the skin. Dermapen, or skin needling uses the body’s natural healing abilities to encourage the breakdown of old collagen and production of new collagen. Also popular for revitalising skin is Platelet Rich Plasma treatment. Your own blood plasma, rich in growth factors, is reinjected into the skin to stimulate collagen production and promote youthful, glowing skin.

I believe that everyone deserves to feel wonderful in their own skin. If you would like to discuss any of my aesthetic treatments to get that glow in time for summer, please get in touch to have a free and friendly consultation.

How to Show your Skin Some Summer Lovin’ in the Season to Bare All

Blue skies, flowers in bloom, temperatures comfortably in their twenties, we seem to have forgotten the spring showers that are so synonymous with the season, and instead we are being treated to an early summer of sun.

With the heat creeping up, our layers start to shed as we swap turtlenecks for tank tops and our habitual black leggings for dresses, skirts and shorts. There also seems to be a sudden increase in “photo opportunities”, which is great if you’re not camera shy. Preparing to bare all may seem like an enormous task and one which often sees long forgotten diets taken up again in an attempt to shed an inch or two four our tummy. However, for those in the know, they never forget the importance of skin care and skin preparation in the coming months. I offer a lot of advice and aesthetic treatments for many of my clients at KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham who are looking to have flawless skin in time for sun, sea, and sand, as much as hot city living, and countryside roaming. Here I share the best tips, tricks, and treatments available at KP Aesthetics to give your skin the summer lovin’ its longing for.

Laser Hair Removal for Lasting Smooth Skin

So accustomed are we to the drizzle and disappointing temperatures that when the sun decides to show its face, we are caught off guard with prickly legs that are ordinarily encased in trousers, and the rest of us quite the same. At KP Aesthetics, we are thrilled to be able to offer an alternative to frantic shaving, painful waxing, and irritable hair removal cream. Laser hair removal works by directing a concentrated beam of light at the treatment area so that the hair follicles undergo irreversible damage and therefore cannot produce hair. Equally effective in large and small areas, it is the perfect solution for beautifully smooth skin. The treatment is as popular with men as women and ensures that we are always prepared to bare all with the changing of the weather.

You can find out more about our laser hair removal treatments on the dedicated treatment page, or read our blog to learn more about why you should make the switch to laser hair removal.

ZO® Skincare Specialists for Supreme Summer Skin

ZO® offers the most innovative and forward-thinking skincare products on the market

During a free consultation we can assess your skin type and concerns and discuss which ZO® products would be most effective and most suitable for your skin. Patients of KP Aesthetics are continually amazed by the transformative power of the ZO® products for their skin.

Dream a Little Dream of Dermapen

There is a lot we can do for our skin in addition to aesthetic treatments; eating well to get the right balance of vital vitamins and minerals, having a skincare routine to combat the everyday dirt, dryness, and damage. However, where lines and wrinkles and scarring are concerned, KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham can provide the definitive treatment that some extra fruit and veg in our diet is not able to do.

When surgical or acne scars, or the lines and loss of luminosity which occur as a result of

ageing are having us wish for winter rather than to don our bikinis and brand our smiles for the camera, Dermapen treatment may be the solution. Making use of the skin’s natural ability to heal itself when damaged, the skin needling technique stimulates the release of growth factors and encourages collagen production. The process lifts, tightens and remodels the skin, reducing the appearance of lines, wrinkles and scars.

Why We’re Happy to Make Way for Male Aesthetic Treatments

Fine lines and wrinkles, thinning hair, darkness around the eyes and loss of volume are just some of the most common visible signs of ageing – and guess what – there’s no gender distinction here. The stress, the sagging skin, it makes no difference whether we are sporting the XY or XX chromosome, so it shouldn’t make a difference when it comes to ridding the wrinkles either. With the rise of social media, and social expectations, we have come to consider our complexion with more scrutiny than in previous years and with that there has been a rise in the aesthetic treatments created to combat our imperfections.

At my aesthetics clinic in Hale, Altrincham, I am thrilled to have more and more clients coming through the doors and leaving a little later with big smiles and a boosted confidence. I am even more excited to offer my range of aesthetic treatments to an ever-growing pool of men looking to stay sharp, suave, and supple. Here I share why male treatments are trending, and why you should feel proud to make your first appointment.

Aesthetic Treatments to Keep On-Point, Professionally and Personally

Aesthetics is often tied to beauty, and beauty is often associated with femininity, but there is nothing gendered about wanting to be presentable in our professional and personal life. Whether you are walking into an important meeting with a clean shave, fresh eyes and flawless skin, sliding into a first date looking as sharp as a newly ironed shirt, or stepping into the gym ready to smash your workout and get the gains that your cool complexion deserves, aesthetic treatments are advancing the potential of men everywhere.

Maximum Discretion with Minimum Recovery Time

Unlike going under the knife, non-surgical cosmetic treatments do not require months on the waiting list, enormous costs, hours of sedation, or weeks for recovery. In fact, it is pretty much at the opposite end of that spectrum. Whether you are interested in Dermal Fillers to smooth out the skin and restore volume, or Dermapen treatment for reducing the appearance of suborn acne scars, or anti-wrinkle injections, laser hair removal, (the list goes on!), you can expect minimal down time and little to no side-effects. Realistically, the only comments from friends and colleagues not in the know will be that you have spent a bit of time in the sun and awe at the good it has done you.

A Proactive Approach to Appearance is Endearing

Men taking interest in their appearance is on the rise. Men’s mags and supermarket aisles are brimming with grooming products, targeted moisturisers and shampoos, protein tubs and a wealth of other supplements all with the role to enhance the overall appearance and the resulting feeling. Far from putting off women looking for the prehistoric idea of a ‘man’s man’, there is a respect and enticement for a man who is willing to put some time into his look.

Aesthetic Treatments for an Always Good Hair Day

It isn’t all about the skin. Some people are able to embrace balding with grace, but for many, the dreaded thinning of hair and eventual creeping bald patch can be incredibly damaging to the self-esteem. It may be down to genetics or indeed to stress; either way, there is no strength in suffering in silence. The Answer? It certainly isn’t a wig, or the comical top piece, nor is it the infamous Trump comb-over. With men and women alike, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment is having incredible effects not only for ridding the fine lines and wrinkles, but for stimulating stunning hair growth. Another non-invasive procedure, the treatment uses the patient’s own blood plasma (taken as in a blood test and passed through a centrifuge), injected into the scalp to promote collagen production and tissue growth. For more details, you can get in touch, or take a look on our dedicated page and at our associated articles.

At KP Aesthetics, I am driven to make patients feel entirely at ease for their aesthetic treatment. Our free one-on-one consultation is held with the utmost sensitivity for those wanting to keep their treatment under wraps. To find out more about the treatments available visit our website or get in touch to talk about what treatments will work best for you and when you want to get started!

What is Multi-Masking and Should We Be Doing It Too?

For better or for worse, the beauty market moves from trend to trend as often as we do our laundry. We have seen everything from nose hair extensions to halo brows, many of which may have us questioning the sanity of the beauty gurus who bestow these movements upon us. A relative newcomer to the stage is the so-called miracle-maker technique of ‘multi-masking’. As the name suggests, the multi-masking process involves the application of several face masks in one go to different parts of the face in order to target specific problem-areas.

Most of us will enjoy setting aside some time for a facemask with hopes to relax whilst rehydrating, exfoliating, cleansing, and all the other things the pack promises. Is multi-masking worth this hype, or is it a ploy to spend more money? Many of my clients at KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham are looking to rebalance, revitalise, and rejuvenate their skin. From acne to wrinkles and dullness to dry skin, I can offer a wide range of treatments that are scientifically proven to work – but could multi-masking be something to help the process from home? Here I take a look at what the users are saying.

The Idea Behind Multi-Masking

Our face is as delicate as it is tempestuous. With that, I mean that the skin can change constantly like the mood of a toddler. In response to hormones, the ageing process, harsh weather, our skin seems to throw the metaphorical toys from the pram and produce breakouts, wrinkles, and patches of dryness or decolouration. Using one facemask can target one ailment, which ordinarily will not cover the whole face. Using multiple facemasks in accordance to their targeted features for example, an anti-acne facemask can be applied directly to the T-zone and a highlighting mask can go on the cheeks, will enable more effective treatment without needing to spend hours going through each mask one after the other.

Making the Most of Multi-Masking

After examining what it is your face is most in need of and purchased the appropriate masks, it is time to begin the multi-masking process. It is strongly advised that you wash your face first – always with water that isn’t too hot or too cold. Pat your face dry with a clean towel. You can then go on to gently exfoliate the skin to get rid of any dead skin cells and dirt and oil build up from the day. That way the beneficial ingredients of the facemasks can have maximum effect on the skin.

In Favour of Multi-Masking

It seems that most people are. In fact, for the sceptics out there – and I was one of them – it seems the facemasks do far more than to make a pretty (and pretty unusual) piece of artwork on our face; it seems indeed that the art works. Most of us will consider our skin to be in the ‘combination’ category so the concept of multi-masking can be a good start to treating problem skin. When choosing your facemasks, be sure to do your research. There are particular ingredients which will facilitate particular problems. For example, tea tree is a great soother of inflamed acne and our old friend retinol is the ultimate ally to anti-ageing remedies. Read the packet before purchasing.

As well as a great skincare routine, trying out multi-masking may help to keep your skin happy. However, there is only so much a mask can do. Whether you want to restore luminosity and firmness, rid the lines and wrinkles, or control and cure problematic skin, I offer a multitude of popular and super-successful treatments at my aesthetics clinic. Take a tour of the website for more information, or get in touch for a free consultation where we can discuss the best treatment plan for you and your skin.

5 Fantastic Anti-Ageing Vitamins that Are Easy as A, B, C (D, E) to Get into Your Diet

There are many not-so-secrets to longer life. They understandably focus on keeping our insides happy and healthy, with regular exercise and maintaining a healthy diet. However, when we reach the ripe old ages, we want people to be amazed, yes by our age, but also by not looking our age. There are many moisturisers and beauty products claiming to hold the elixir of life in their pot or bottle, but it can be difficult to decipher whether there is any real value to it – other than the often hefty price tag.

At my aesthetic clinic in Hale, Altrincham, many of my wonderful clients are looking to stop the clocks on their ageing skin. Whilst much of the beauty market is driven by money as oppose to scientific fact, industry leading dermatologists and nutritionists agree that by making conscious efforts to boost particular nutrients and vitamins in our diet, we can significantly slow down the visible signs of ageing. Here I share 5 essential vitamins for optimum skin health and where to find them.

Vitamin A

It is the vitamin found in some of the most effective anti-ageing products as Retinol. Vitamin A is the ultimate fighter against ageing since it is responsible for skin repair, is an anti-oxidant to the damaging effects of free radicals, promotes collagen production and thus the growth of new cells which combat fine lines and wrinkles, and the dark circles under our eyes.

Food source: oily fish, eggs, carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes

Vitamin B

There are 8 B vitamins in total, and each has its role to play in providing a healthy body and skin. Together, these vitamins help to retain moisture in the skin by supporting the function of the upper dermis, stimulate new skin cell production for a bright complexion, and promote even skin tone and improved elasticity. As a water-soluble vitamin, it cannot be stored by the body, so it’s important that our diet is rich with sources of vitamin B.

Food source: avocados, mushrooms, tomatoes, seeds and nuts, eggs, cheese, spinach

Vitamin C

We all know that vitamin C is supposed to warn off colds and flu but it also works wonder for our skin. By promoting collagen production, vitamin C gives skin a firmer, brighter and consequently more youthful appearance. This attribute also helps to heal sun-damaged skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Food source: citrus fruits, strawberries, broccoli, spinach, peppers, kale

Vitamin D

Dubbed as the “sunshine vitamin”, trying to get our daily dose of sunlight can be almost impossible for many of us, – especially in the winter months. Vitamin D is responsible for strengthening the skin, preventing skin problems such as acne and eczema.

Food source: fish, egg yolks, mushrooms, fortified products such as; milk, yogurt, cereal

Vitamin E

Another anti-oxidant vitamin, vitamin E protects the skin from free radical damage largely directed from harmful UV rays. Normally the body will produce vitamin E through sebum which is secreted onto the skin surface. That way, vitamin E is also essential to maintaining skin moisture and preventing skin problems associated with skin dryness, such as inflammation and eczema.

Food source: almonds, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, vegetable oils, spinach

Following a vitamin-rich diet is a delicious way to slow the signs of ageing on our skin. However, for some, the already visible tells of ageing such as dark circles, lines and wrinkles, and skin that has lost its plumpness, can take its toll on our confidence. At KP Aesthetics, I am driven to restore the skin to a natural-looking youthfulness, and restore my clients’ self-esteem. To find out how I can help you slow the effects of time on your skin, take a look at my website, or get in touch for a free consultation where we can put together a treatment plan that is perfect for you.

Say Goodbye to Hair Loss and Hair Thinning with PRP Treatment at KP Aesthetics

Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment has been popular for some time with our favourite celebrities but in recent years has become available to us mortals who are arguably more deserving of the youth-inducing, revitalising effects of the “vampire facelift”. Nicknamed as such because a small amount of the patient’s blood is put into a centrifuge to separate it into red blood cells and blood plasma – the latter is injected back into the skin. I’ve always found the nickname a little intimidating, when in truth the PRP treatment is a safe and super-effective way of restoring a natural-looking youthfulness in the form of firmer, smoother, glowing and overall revitalised skin.

All of my clients at KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham, who have tried the PRP treatment, have left the clinic feeling fresh and fabulous with their rejuvenated appearance. However, that isn’t the only use of PRP treatment. As well as the appearance of lines and wrinkles and loss of luminosity and volume, the ageing process can affect our hair equally, causing thinning and hair loss. For men and women alike, hair loss can be very damaging to their confidence. PRP has incredible restorative effects which I want to tell you all about now!

The Science Behind PRP Treatment for Hair Loss

Drawing the blood as in a blood test and separating it into the two main components leaves us one part blood plasma. This is the part that interests us. The plasma is made up of white blood cells and platelets which are rich in growth factors. The presence of these growth factors acts as a sort of messaging system, signalling for cells to function. Reintroducing the blood plasma to the scalp area stimulates the function of hair follicles and promotes new hair growth.

What to Expect from PRP Treatment

The procedure begins with a consultation to answer any final questions and put the patient at absolute ease. We then go on as in a blood test, then the sample is placed in the centrifuge, and then the blood plasma is transferred directly into the hair follicles of the scalp where hair loss/thinning has occurred via a micro-needle. The pain is minimal with an anaesthetic cream provided but there is no need for topical cream since the U225 gun – the needling appliance – is particularly gentle and causes minimal swelling. As the process involves injecting your own blood plasma back into your body, the procedure is incredibly safe and offers no risk or rejection or allergic reaction.

The Results of PRP Treatment

One treatment will make a difference, but consistency is best. A course of PRP treatment for hair loss will see patients notice initially a decrease in hair shedding, followed by early hair regrowth (baby hairs) and quickly, an increased length and volume of hair. Oh, and patients will probably notice a significant boost in confidence and a desire to show off their newly luscious locks!

If you hair loss is hampering your self-esteem, KP Aesthetics is here to help you on your journey back to hair heaven. To find out more information, or to book your first session, please get in touch for your free consultation.

How to Take Care of Your Skin On Holiday – and After!

Sun safety is something that we should all understand and live by. Stepping off the plane into a paradise that is not touched by the British weather, it can be tempting to bare all and skimp on the sun cream and high SPF since most of us only see this sort of sunshine in our two week spring/summer holiday. We can all agree that the sun is wonderful, but it is also incredibly dangerous. The evidence of the association between harmful UV rays and skin cancer is well-documented and must be respected.

Sun damage is also the greatest catalyst to premature ageing. At my aesthetics clinic in Hale, Altrincham, I have a number of treatments that effectively restore and rejuvenate sun-damaged skin and reverse the visible signs of ageing. Here, the phrase prevention over cure applies. I want to share how you can care for your skin during and after you holiday.

Regularly Apply Sun Cream

Most of us don’t enjoy the process of putting on sun cream, but its importance cannot be stressed enough. There are things we can do to make it less messy; if you’re going to the beach, consider applying sun cream before heading outdoors. That way there’s time for the lotion to soak in before the sand sticks to it. You should aim to apply sun cream every two hours – not just in the morning and after lunch. If you’re hitting the pool or the sea, guess what? You’ll need to apply more sun cream afterwards.

We all know the saying ‘mad dogs and English men’, do your best not to live up to it and avoid the midday sun.

After Sun Care

Prevent the leathery look with exfoliation and regular moisturising throughout and after you holiday. If in spite of your best efforts you manage to burn, an after sun containing Aloe Vera is particularly good for soothing, cooling, and replenishing our skin.

Food For the Face

Combat the ageing effect of the sun by making the most of fresh local produce filled with vital vitamins and minerals. Vitamin C and vitamin A are particularly powerful for supporting our skin and promoting a youthful complexion. Remember, this is something that you can do from home too alongside other everyday ways to slow the signs of ageing.

Sun Cream Even On Over-Cast Days

Even in the Med, we can be cursed by a couple of cloudy days. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you can get away with not wearing sun cream. The harmful rays still penetrates through even thick cloud, in fact up to 80 per cent of the sun’s UV rays can make their way to your unprotected bodies. It can be on these days that holidaymakers notice the worst sunburn.

Cashing in on a cheap and cheerful spring getaway is a great money saver; if that is your plan, be even more vigilant with skincare since your skin won’t have had an adjustment period to bright British weather and is therefore more susceptible to sun damage . I wish all of my lovely clients the happiest holiday period, but if on return you feel that you need some extra help to rejuvenate your post-holiday skin, please get in touch for a free consultation!
